Lascaux Cave is a prehistorical site discovered in 1940 by 4 teenagers in Montignac, Dordogne in the valley of Vézere.

Since 1948, the site is opened to the public. Unfortunately, its touristic exploitation caused irreversible damages and the site had to close in 1963. In 1983, a full scale reproduction of the cave, Lascaux 2 is opened to the public. In 2016, the international center for parietal art, Lascaux 4 is inaugured.

The International Center for Parietal Art also reproduces the original cave identically. Visiting Lascaux 4 will teach you about prehistory and parietal art in Dordogne‘ cradle of Cro-Magnon, the valley of Vézère.
